Ethical Considerations
At NURSIJ (Nursing Science and Innovation Journal), we are committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in all aspects of the publishing process. We expect all parties involved—authors, reviewers, and editors—to adhere to rigorous ethical principles to ensure the integrity and quality of the research we publish.
1. Research Integrity:
- Originality: Authors must ensure that their work is original and has not been published elsewhere. All sources of data, ideas, and text that are not their own must be properly cited and acknowledged.
- Plagiarism: Any form of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, is unacceptable. Manuscripts that include unacknowledged work from others or duplicate content from the authors’ previous publications will be rejected.
- Fabrication and Falsification: Authors must not fabricate or falsify data or results. All reported findings should be accurate and reflect the true nature of the research conducted.
2. Authorship and Contributions:
- Authorship Criteria: All individuals listed as authors should have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research. Individuals who do not meet these criteria should not be included as authors.
- Acknowledgements: Contributors who do not qualify for authorship should be acknowledged in the manuscript. The roles and contributions of each author should be clearly stated.
3. Human and Animal Rights:
- Ethical Approval: Research involving human subjects or animals must have been conducted in accordance with ethical standards and approved by an appropriate ethics committee or institutional review board.
- Informed Consent: For studies involving human participants, informed consent must be obtained from all participants. Authors must ensure that participants are aware of the nature of the research and their rights.
4. Confidentiality and Privacy:
- Data Protection: Authors must ensure that all personal and sensitive data is handled confidentially. Identifiable information about participants should not be disclosed without their consent.
- Confidentiality in Review: Reviewers and editors are required to maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript and not disclose its content or any details about the review process.
5. Conflict of Interest:
- Disclosure: Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence their work or decisions. Financial, personal, or professional interests that could be perceived as a conflict should be transparently reported.
- Impartiality: All parties involved in the review and publication process must act impartially and base their decisions solely on the merit of the research.
6. Ethical Complaints and Allegations:
- Handling Misconduct: Allegations of ethical misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, and other violations, will be thoroughly investigated. Authors found to have violated ethical standards may face sanctions, including retraction of their work.
- Appeals: Authors have the right to appeal decisions related to ethical concerns. Appeals should be submitted in writing and will be reviewed by the editorial board.
7. Editorial Responsibilities:
- Fairness and Transparency: Editors are responsible for ensuring a fair and transparent review process. They must handle all manuscripts impartially and ensure that all ethical guidelines are followed throughout the publication process.
- Integrity in Decision-Making: Editors must make decisions based on the quality and validity of the research, free from any external influences or conflicts of interest.
When the journal encounters suspected cases of research and publication misconduct, the resolution process will adhere to the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). For complete details, please refer to the COPE website at: http://www.publicationethics.org.
In the event that plagiarism is detected in a submitted manuscript or a published paper, the journal will follow the guidelines and procedures outlined in COPE’s Code of Conduct and flowcharts.
